My Last Day Email at Persistent Systems Limited

After exciting and memorable stint with Persistent System Limited, I decided to move on for better career opportunities. So taking break from technical stuff and here it goes my last day email, you  may refer it when your time comes.:P

A new journey to start, a journey should end. So it is time for me to say goodbye to Persistent, eMee and to all my dear ones here.

Being my first endeavor in IT industry this place has given me lot of beautiful memories to cherish and preserve. It all started more than 2 years ago where we found ourselves in June -11 ELTP batch. It’s more or less fun time for us where we got a chance to interact with everyone.:P . After those “Summer of 30 days” where we were yet to come out from a shell, suddenly RA member called us and it was mixed response on everyone’s face.  On negative note we realized that our best days of professional life are over and now it’s time for actual work but fortunately we 12-15 people landed in one project – “eMee”.

Day I could recall, eMee journey started when Siddhesh and core eMee gang called us in BR. eMee has always been a place where I have learnt number of things, where I became the person what I am today. I got opportunity to work with few fantastic managers, techies and I would like to express my gratitude to all of you.

Siddhesh – Charismatic person, business acumen who always makes you feel special and precious resource. I will surely remember some of his words/ thoughts throughout my entire life.

Avinash – May be every fresher should get Manager like him.:) I always found myself in comfort zone while working with him.

Manish – Real “TechnoManager” - I never reported to Manish directly but was working with him for most of the time.  Very methodical, structured guy who wants everything in mail and never hesitated to dig into code for finding root cause.

Rakesh – I admire him for technical knowledge and he can pick up things superfast and also on the managerial front he gets all the stuff done in super-efficient way.

Kaushik – I consider myself unfortunate one that I got very less time to interact / work with him. During this small tenure I become super fan of him. The way he tackles any problem and knowledge about almost every field, just hats off to him!

In eMee - I have learned from everyone I have worked with, would like to say thanks a lot to:
Mitesh, Govind, Amruta, Kedar, Pankaj, Snehal, Anuja, Manasi, Saurab, Neha, Smita ,Ankit and some ex-eMeeians/ ex- Persistentians. Please forgive me if I missed anyone’s name in this list.

After today my employee number/identity in Persistent, my beloved eMee Profile will cease to exist. But my intuition says that we will cross paths again sometime in future till then please be in touch.:)

Wishing you all the best and success for your future endeavors.:)

Cheers,
Sandesh

M102 - Mongo DB for DBA! How was your experience?

As I promised yesterday about M102 – DBA certification overview, today I come up with details about this certification plus online course. DBA- this term coined different ideas in everyone’s mind but believe me he/she is the care taker of sensitive data of your valuable business. Oops..may be am diverting from main topic of discussion so let us talk about Mongo DB.J

Course instructor takes you from ground floor and drops you at the top floor. Surely they assume that you don’t know “A” of Mongo DB and teaches you about all alphabets of Mongo DB Administration. Still I believe some advance concepts would have been added advantage for this course nevertheless I would recommend this course to all newcomers who want to demystify Mongo DB .This course runs for 7 weeks and diagram given below will help you to go through syllabus.

M102 - Syllabus
I have completed this course and believe me I got brilliant experience while going through contents and awesome videos. So finally wrapping up my experience I would say:

What I like about this course?

Hmm… Everything.J

1] Assignments are moderately difficult but all the concepts are taught in the class.
2] It covers basic and intermediate concepts about Mongo DB. I feel we should wait for new course from 10gen for advanced stuff.
3] Final class covers suggestion, hints, and tips about Mongo DB live usage.
4] Practical exercises and style of narration and of course Show Me Do style continued my interest over   seven weeks.

My Mongo DB DBA Certificate :)

Mongo DB Certifications

I had appeared for these certifications and also completed with some awesome numbers at the end J, thought of sharing my experience with others. Today as Internet resides in everyone's pocket (I mean by means of our most loved gadget -Smart Phones), online education is becoming tradition for ever-growing technologies.

10 gen, New York based start-up started building document oriented SAAS based storage 5-6 years ago and ultimately came up with Mongo DB. Document oriented storage model makes you to forget de-facto standards comes from relational world. I am working in one of the best RDBMS in the world MS SQL Server for past few years, so this new stuff quite amazed me at first sight.

So I decided to dig into deep about Mongo DB 3-4 months before, while looking for online materials I came across 10 gen education site . They are offering really fabulous online courses on Mongo DB. As of today, four courses available on the website. These courses runs after every 3-4 months, so if you missed the current schedule then don’t worry, do come back after some time.

Mongo DB supports number of programming languages as interface. Considering this fact in mind we can see different courses with the language flavor attached to it. J 10 gen also planned to start new more courses like Internals of Mongo DB, will update once new courses are available.
I had completed two developer courses and DBA course and found it very useful. Teaching method is awesome, with short videos and assignment keep you alive for course duration.:P
Will post about every certification after some time but would like to enlist major benefits:

Benefits:
  •        Free of cost, only need a PC and internet connection with good speed.
  •     Duration – 7 weeks. Deep and detailed syllabus gives insight and out about Mongo DB.
  •     You will get a certificate of completion from 10gen.
